ANNUAL EVENTS
A mild climate paired with endless events means that the Alabama Gulf Coast showcases year-round festivals, events or activities perfect for all ages.
Spring
Spring showers and new flowers highlight this coastal area, which hosts a
Spring Bird Banding session at the Fort Morgan State Historic Site in April. Bring a lawn chair and inquisitive mind for this family-friendly event.
Reeling in the big ones is never an issue at the
Orange Beach Saltwater Series presented by the Red Snapper World Championship. This tournament—which is held March through August—features a lucrative payout schedule for red snapper and nine other species.
Summer
Summertime on the sugar white shores attracts visitors from all walks of life—literally.
Mother sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs, which will hatch in October.
Concert goers need to get their tickets early for the
Pepsi Summer Concert Series at The Wharf’s 10,200 seat outdoor amphitheater, which routinely hosts sold-out performances for national acts and legendary bands.
Stock up on your selection of ghost stories during the
candlelight tours of
Fort Morgan Historic Site, held every Tuesday night during June and July.
Fall
Showcase our tradition of shoreline stewardship during the
Annual Coastal Cleanup in September. Discover how 2,573 miles of coastline has remained clean and pristine thanks to the hard work of over 46,000 volunteers, ranging from Boy/Girl Scout Clubs to concerned citizens.
Highlighting October is the legendary
National Shrimp Festival. Hosted on Gulf Shores Public Beach, this festival (that is free to the public) attracts over 200,000 people who peruse though the art and crafts booths, enjoy the 3 stages full of live entertainment, and dine on the coast’s succulent seafood during the 4 day event.
Returning for a second time, guests can find a feathered friend during the
Fall Bird Banding at Fort Morgan.
Winter
November sings with excitement during the
Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival. Held in venues on the island and Perdido Key, songwriters and music lovers make their plans to attend months in advance.
Ring in the New Year with a chilly dip in the Gulf of Mexico during the
Annual Polar Bear Dip at the
Flora-Bama. You bring the tolerance for cold water, and we will supply the traditional black-eyed peas.
Let the moon pies fly, and the good times roll with
Mardi Gras. This month-long party attracts families near and far to our coastal celebration and parades.
